Jacopo Robusti, called Tintoretto (1519-1594), The Resurrection of Christ, oil on canvas. Christ arises from his tomb in a burst of heavenly light. This dynamic composition was originally shaped as an octagon. It was intended to hang high, perhaps in one of the corners of a carved and gilded wooden ceiling.
